A Million Little Miracles:

A Story of Hope and Resilience

Welcome to A Million Little Miracles, a place born out of a personal journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. Our story begins with a remarkable twist of fate in early November of 2022, a day that would forever alter the course of our lives.

Our Story:

An Unforeseen Path to Parenthood

Our journey into the world of parenting was anything but ordinary. A seemingly uneventful pregnancy took an unexpected turn during a work trip to Orlando. On that early Monday morning, as I went about my day, I felt a subtle gush of liquid. To be safe, I decided to seek medical attention, a decision that would prove to be life-changing.

Hours of tests and consultations led to a diagnosis: preterm premature rupture of membranes, known in medical terms as PPROM. Yet, what made this situation perplexing was that the doctors couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause behind the rupture. Despite the uncertainty, there was hope. Given the circumstances, the medical team believed I could remain pregnant for another eight weeks with the right care.

Florida

However, during what was meant to be a routine check-up, the on-call OB made a startling discovery: I was 5cm dilated and experiencing bleeding. In a matter of minutes, the high-risk medical team sprang into action. I quickly spoke to with my husband, who was in transit, and was rushed to labor and delivery.

Thirty-five minutes later, thirteen weeks before her expected due date, at just 27 weeks of gestation, our daughter’s journey began.

The NICU became her first home, and it was there that our family’s path intersected with the incredible world of neonatal care.

Navigating the NICU Journey Across Two States

Our personal journey unfolded across two NICUs, first in Florida and then in Texas, each chapter filled with its unique challenges and triumphs.

Thousands of miles away from home, we found ourselves navigating the overwhelming number of medical terms, the rhythm of the NICU, and the complexities of being divided between two cities. We faced the task of securing accommodation, coordinating medical updates, and transitioning to working from the hospital and our temporary home while balancing the need to be present for our daughter’s daily care.

Our Mission

Because of these challenges, we were inspired to start A Million Little Miracles, a platform where we share the knowledge we’ve gained, extend support to families navigating the often turbulent waters of the NICU, and advocate for the needs of these families.

We understand the worries, the hopes, and the joys that define this journey because we’ve walked this path ourselves.

Today, we’re proud to share that our daughter is now healthy and thriving. Her journey from those early days in the NICU to the vibrant and joyful child she has become fills us with so much hope.

We believe that every little life is a miracle. Our nonprofit was founded to empower and support families who have a baby in the NICU. We know firsthand the unique emotions, uncertainty, and strength required on this journey. Our mission is to provide NICU families and the communities that support them with vital resources, educational materials, and a network of support.

Our Services

We provide support and resources to premature babies and their families. Our services include:
